The Italian Chocolate Champion
In 2023, the prestigious Belcolade Award brought together six talented finalists from across Italy. Their challenge was to create a stunning chocolate sculpture, a low-sugar praline, and a gluten-free snack, all inspired by the theme of sustainability.
Gianluca earned the title of National Chocolate Champion, taking the top spot on the podium. His creation was inspired by the Ionian Sea, featuring a depiction of the Caretta caretta sea turtle, a dahlia symbolizing the importance of climate change, and wind turbines representing renewable energy. The tasting elements highlighted the region’s signature ingredients, offering a sensory journey through authentic local flavors.
This remarkable event was more than a competition: it was a meeting of minds, where master chocolatiers showcased their craft while promoting environmental awareness and honoring the treasures of their homeland.
